Professor Joe Ahlert is a 4th degree Black Belt under Master Renzo Gracie. He has been a life long student under the Gracie family starting his Jiu Jitsu career off in 1993 training with Royce and Rorian Gracie at the mere age of 13 even before the first UFC took place.
He received his Blue Belt from Master Royler Gracie and began training under Renzo Gracie when he opened his first academy in Nyc. He then formed a strong relationship with John Danaher out of the Renzo Academy who promoted Professor Joe to his Purple and Brown Belts and has cornered Joe in his Championship MMA fights.
He received his Black Belt from Master Renzo himself and is forever grateful to him. Professor Joe Ahlert has been teaching Jiu Jitsu for over 25 years and is well known for his critical attention to detail and his amazing way of passing information on to his students. He has had numerous students go on to win Professional MMA Championships and World Titles in Jiu Jitsu.
Over the last almost 30 years Professor Joe Ahlert has also won numerous Championships in each of the combat sports he’s fought in including: Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, No Gi Grappling, Professional MMA, Shootfighting Matches and more.
He states himself that he’s always been much more interested in instructing students on a deep level to go on and see them achieve greatness with his deep passion for teaching to help them along the way.
He believes becoming a champion yourself is good, but if you can make numerous people around you become champions that is where greatness lies. Professor Joe Ahlert is a very talented grappler and instructor who always puts the students first and is known as an instructor of instructors.
Cody Mooney
A former Raritan High School varsity wrestler. He wrestled for all 4 years under Coach Robert Nucci. From 2005 to 2009 Cody had 107 wins, was a 2x District 22 Champion ,and 2x Region 6 4th place winner. He then continued his wrestling career for one year in college while also starting to train Brazilian Ju Jitsu and MMA at Renzo Gracie’s in Holmdel.
From 2011-2018 Cody would go 10-2 in MMA and also become a purple belt under Joe Ahlet. Now, Cody has become an assistant wrestling coach for Raritan High School
